The Great Happiness Space

A strangely unraveling documentary about male 'hosts' in Japan. The subjects are frank and sincere to the camera (although not to each other). I was left feeling empty and alone, at which point I re-watched 'Up' to lift my spirits (just kidding Teddy).

Ikiru

Amazing. The best movie I've seen in a long time. Inspiring.

So inspiring I went through the whole blog post by post and put a "10" as a keyword for all films anyone has rated a 10. This way you can search for "10" to find some great movies.

Departures

The Japanese dramatic version of A Certain Kind of Death. Long, funny at times, predictable and a bit sappy. The departure ritual that is performed repeatedly is alluring.

Tokyo!

I'm always biased towards movies that take place in Japan and tryptich films, so I liked it more than like. One story is fun, one is scary, and one is confusing, I'm not sure which is which.
